Ottawa-Carleton Learning Foundation

The Ottawa-Carleton Learning Foundation (OCLF) is dedicated to fostering life-long learning for students across the Ottawa region. Working in collaboration with its partners in education, government, business and the community, OCLF has played a lead role in developing over thirty innovative education programs since its inception in 1987.

OCLF develops and implements collaborative community-based initiatives to support student learning at all levels. These programs support the learning needs of students throughout the Ottawa community, with a particular focus on elementary and secondary students who are “at risk” of school failure and/or require additional support. OCLF channels resources (e.g. funding, volunteers, books, equipment, and other in-kind donations) from the community to schools to help students succeed.

Since 1998, OCLF has engaged the Ottawa Centre for Research and Innovation (OCRI) to provide administrative and managerial support for the delivery of its programs.

Through the work of OCLF and its partnership with OCRI, an outstanding level of community collaboration has been achieved to benefit students across Ottawa in ways not otherwise possible. OCLF programs provide the facilitation and infrastructure necessary to channel both financial resources and meaningful volunteer contributions to where they can do the most good within our local education system.

Currently, there are six collaborative community-based programs operating under the OCLF banner.

  • School Breakfast Program
  • Volunteers in Education
  • OttawaReads
  • Assistive Technology Support Initiative
  • Substance Abuse and Youth in School Coalition
